Unable to raise money to go Dubai, man ends life

Anguished over his inability to raise money to go abroad, a man, identified as Kamlesh Narain (25), a resident of Chheharta, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday.

Anguished over his inability to raise money to go abroad, a man, identified as Kamlesh Narain (25), a resident of Chheharta, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday.

The victim was putting up as a tenant at Jand Peer Colony, Chheharta.

The Amritsar city police have started inquest proceedings into the matter.

Police claimed that no suicide note was recovered from the deceased.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gursahib Singh of the Chheharta police station said Kamlesh wanted to go Dubai.

“His visa had arrived, as had the ticket for his flight, but he could not raise the requisite amount of Rs 60,000, because of which he committed suicide by hanging,” he said.

He, however, added that no suicide note had been recovered from the deceased.

“A post-mortem on the body has been conducted and further investigations are on into the matter,” he said.
