Undertrial drug addict dies at jail
An undertrial drug addict at Ludhiana central jail died under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.
An undertrial drug addict at Ludhiana central jail died under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Jagjit Singh, a resident of Moga district. He was lodged in jail in a fraud case registered against him at Jagraon. He was in jail since October 7, 2013.
Jail superintendent Surinderpal Khanna said the victim was undergoing treatment at jail's de-addiction centre.
At around 11am, his health started sinking, following which, he was rushed to the jail hospital.
The staff at the hospital referred him to civil hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital.
The jail authorities requested the authorities concerned to conduct postmortem and judicial inquiry in the case.
The board of doctors will conduct the postmortem of the deceased at the civil hospital on Wednesday.
