A local court on Wednesday reserved the decision on the bail application of Zulfiqar Khan, Theatre Age director, for Thursday after the UT police strongly opposed his plea.
Zulfiqar had applied for the bail on Tuesday. Opposing his plea, the UT police stated the accused had been threatening witnesses while in jail too. “There is every possibility his release will hamper the investigation,” stated the police.
The defence counsel also produced the minor victim - who, as per the police, is seen in the objectionable photographs - in the court. The minor told the court he never gave any statements against Zulfiqar to the police nor was he seen in the photographs.
The statement of a 15-yearold victim in the case has also been attached with the plea. The minor had stated the accused never sodomised him, and that he was not the one seen in the photographs in which Zulfiqar was seen sodomising the victims. Zulfiqar Khan was arrested on July 11 for sodomising children belonging to his organisation, Theatre Age. As per the case, from 2002 till 2015, the accused committed unnatural sexual crimes with these five children. While doing so, he exhibited porn videos to them and also threatened of dire consequences if they revealed anything. Four of the five victims are now adults.
