Four-day Vajra Corps exercise 'Ashwamedh' concluded today in Punjab. The exercise was a routine major military effort. Swift mobilisation of units and formations to occupy defences as also offensive manoeuvres were practiced.

Four-day Vajra Corps exercise 'Ashwamedh' concluded today in Punjab. The exercise was a routine major military effort. Swift mobilisation of units and formations to occupy defences as also offensive manoeuvres were practiced.

The aim of the exercise was to demonstrate integration of armoured, artillery, air defence, surveillance and specialized engineer equipment, together with air force operations.

During the exercise, breath-taking actions of special forces were witnessed. Challenging fording and floatation operations, wherein tanks and mechanized infantry vehicles crossed the Sutlej river, were very impressive.

The exercise was conducted in the backdrop of various studies and systems approach to training models, so as to transform the Vajra Corps into a next generation war machine, as part of an integrated theatre battle.

More than 12,000 troops besides highest technology platforms combined in a networked environment.
