Vigilance arrested ASI for bribery
Vigilance Bureau arrested assistant sub inspector (ASI) Jaswinder Singh under the Corruption Act and recovered the bribed money of Rs 4000 from him last evening.

Announcing this here on Tuesday, Vigilance SSP Parambir Singh Parmar said the ASI, posted at Lakhewali Police Station, demanded Rs 4000 to hushup the complaint lodged by some residents of Bhangchiro village against one Buta Singh.
Accordingly Buta Singh lodged a complaint with Vigilance Bureau Muktsar. Singh asked the ASI to come and collect the money at the appointed place near Ramgarh village. The ASI arrived at the spot in his own car and collected the money from Buta Singh.
On seeing the VB team, the police personnel tried to give a slip by speeding his car but was arrested.
According to official information, some villagers had lodged a complaint against Singh. After compromising, the ASI demanded Rs 9000. The ASI had already received Rs 5000 and the remaining amount was paid to the inspector last evening when the Bureau team laid a trap and arrested the ASI.
