In yet another horrific incident, the police found a woman’s chopped body parts, which were being eaten by stray dogs, near Purana Sugarmill area in Rohtak’s outskirts on Monday. The police said they only recovered the torso of the woman while the body below the knees and above the waist is missing.
The woman was wearing a red-coloured underwear, the only means through which the cops hope to ascertain the identity of woman.
The police saidpreliminary investigation did not rule out sexual assault before murder. The police have sent the corpse for post-mortem at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS).
Some boys who were roaming in the area found stray dogs fighting violently over the body—which is when they suspected that it was a human body. They the informed the police. Shivaji colony police station in-charge Umed Singh said they cannot rule out sexual assault though more could be said after post-mortem.
So far, the police have registered a case under Sections 302 (murder)and 201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. The police said appropriate sections will be added in the FIR if sexual assault is confirmed in the postmortem.
The incident comes close on the heels of the brutal rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Haryana’s Hisar district two days ago. Earlier in May this year, the police had found a brutalised body of a 20-year-old gangrape victim woman that was being mauled by stray dogs.
