It was only after the police intervened that the situation was brought under control.

The women protesters threw dozens of liquor bottles on the road, closed the shutters of the vend and broke the furniture of the liquor shop.

Tehsildar OP Bishnoi and DSP Dharambeer Singh reached on the spot and pacified the protesters.

The women protesters said that despite their numerous representations, the local administration had failed to take action against the liquor vends. They said that Sirsa deputy commissioner had assured them that liquor shops would be closed after the elections, but they were still doing brisk business.

Notably, on Friday some people of Agrasen Chowk area too had protested near Ambedkar Chowk against a liquor vend. The protesters also gheraoed the commissioner, Hisar range, at mini secretariat.
