She came into the limelight after she was chosen for Talwandi Sabo bypoll in August 2014 after the party cancelled the ticket allotted to Punjabi Singer Balkar Sidhu.
She has risen in the party hierarchy since. Prior to joining politics, she was an English lecturer at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Meanwhile, a group within the party is reportedly not happy with the ticket allotted to her. Some persons have threatened to oppose her on her Facebook page Nabz-E-Punjab alleging that she tried to usurp the land of a deceased man fraudulently claiming that a complaint in this regard was also sent to the party’s central leadership. Baljinder, denied the allegations and said all had been checked.
