Activists of Youth Akali Dal (YAD) on Friday burnt the effigy of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi demanding to make public the names of Congress leaders. allegedly involved in 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi
YAD senior vice-president and zila parishad chairman Gurpreet Singh Maluka said that the statement by Rahul Gandhi confessing that some of the Congress leaders were involved in the riots had clarified that there was a conspiracy.
He said that after this confession Rahul Gandhi was duty-bound to declare the names of those leaders so that they could be punished.
He said that it was wrong to compare the anti Sikh riots of 1984 with Gujarat riots of 2002 as 131 accused had been jailed in connection with these riots and 10 had been given death sentence; while the accused of 1984 were yet to be punished.
