A 60-year-old man died after being thrashed by two youths, whom he had reprimanded for urinating in front of his house.
They said Gurdial Singh, a resident of Anand Nagar, is believed to have died of cardiac arrest, minutes after he was hit hard in the lower abdomen.
SHO Rajesh Chhiber told HT that the accused, Baljit Singh Bakshi and Manjit Singh, were in an inebriated state and fled after Gurdial's son came to his rescue.
Gurdial was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The SHO said the exact cause of Gurdial's death will be ascertained only after the viscera report comes. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after postmortem. No arrests were made till this report was filed.
