Kichcha Sudeep is back with Bigg Boss Kannada season 5.

Bigg Boss Kannada, the popular reality show hosted by Sudeep, premiered its fifth season on Sunday. The host, Sudeep, introduced the contestants who will take part in this season. The show will be aired on Colors Super and this season, six commoners will enter the house along with 11 celebrities. The first episode of the show is expected to be a four-hour long programme complete with performances, contestants’ introductions. While the Hindi version of the show, hosted by Salman Khan, already has viewers hooked, we would have to wait and see how the fifth season of the Kannada version fares.

Speaking about his involvement with the show, Kichcha Sudeep said in a statement, “Bigg Boss Kannada manages to surprise me every season with the innovations in the concept and introduction of numerous entertainment avenues, not only for the housemates and viewers of the show but also for myself. The inclusion of the common man into the house, revolutionises the format of the game, with even more unpredictability,” and added, “I am delighted to have been a part of this journey from the onset. For the fifth season in a row, I am still as excited as I was in the first, with season 5 getting bigger, better and even more entertaining for everyone.”

The contestants rumoured to be a part of season 5 are rapper Chandan Shetty, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Anuradha Bhat, Vijayalakshmi, RJ Riaz Pasha, Supriya Lohith, Varshini Kusuma, Rajesh Nataranga, Kavitha Gowda, Sunil Raoh, Pankaj Narayan, Raju Thalikote, Shine Shetty, Muruli of Oggarane Dabbi fame, Sriki and Harsha.

Numerologist Jayasreenivasan was the first contestant to enter the Bigg Boss Kannada house followed by commoner Megha from Kodagu and filmmaker Dayal Padmanabhan. While there is a lot of excitement around the show itself, incidents like season 4 winner Pratham’s suicide attempt loom large.

Pratham attempted suicide in April live on Facebook after alleging that he wasn’t paid the prize money for winning season 4 of the show. He took the step after failing to come through after promising to donate his winnings to charity.
