Ram Gopal Varma took to his Facebook page to announce that his project Lakshmi’s NTR has finally found a producer in YSCRP member Rakesh Reddy. Ram Gopal Varma posted a photo with Reddy on Facebook on October 6. He announced that their intention to make a film about NTR was to reveal the truth and has nothing whatsoever to do with politics. However, seeing as NTR is the founder of Telugu Desam Party and also three times Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the family members, especially daughter Nandamuri Purandeswari feels it would not be fair to make a film from just one person’s perspective.

About a few months back, Nandamuri Balakrishna, NTR’s son, had also claimed that a biopic about his father was in the works. He had said that a research team is in place to verify and plot everything about NTR as a people’s leader and actor. He had also confirmed that he would be starring in the biopic as his father and this might be the film for which he turns a producer.

This was, however not a welcome idea for NTR’s wife Lakshmi. In fact, it was when N Balakrishna made this announcement that she had opened up about how NTR’s own family backstabbed him by supporting Chandrababu Naidu. She said that portraying the life of NTR, especially in the final days when he was ousted from power by his own family, would not do justice to the person that he was. It was this revelation that led to RGV making his film from the perspective of Lakshmi.

Also, the current Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is from TDP, while the producer is from opposition party YSRCP. This also makes one question if the film is a political propaganda by the opposing party.

When local media reports speculated the same, YSRCP MLA Roja claimed that there was no connection whatsoever between the party and the film.
