Best known for working together in films such as Shiva and Govinda Govinda, two of Telugu cinema’s path-breaking films, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Akkineni Nagarjuna are set to reunite nearly after two decades. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, RGV wrote that he is excited to join hands with Nagarjuna for a realistic action film. While there have been rumours that the project could be a sequel to Shiva, Varma, however, has rubbished reports and said it’ll be a very different.
“I am extremely excited that I am doing a film with Nagarjuna after nearly 25 years but contrary to some uninformed media speculations, this new film is nothing to do with ‘Shiva’, neither in character nor in story content,” Varma posted on his Facebook page. He went on to add: “It’s a very different but an extremely realistic action film set against a story such as neither me nor Nagarjuna has ever done before.”Varma said he hopes he lives up to the expectations because Nagarjuna gave him his first directorial break with Shiva.
It is believed the project with Nagarjuna will start sometime early next year. At the teaser launch of Raju Gari Gadhi 2, Nagarjuna had said he was blown away by the story RGV had pitched and he was really looking forward to collaborate. Before his film with RGV, Nagarjuna might do a project with Nani, and it will be directed by Sriram Adittya.
