Sivakarthikeyan’s next big release is Velaikkaran, which marks his first time collaboration with director Mohan Raja of Thani Oruvan fame. The film was set to lock horns with Mahesh Babu’s Spyder, and the box-office battle was going to be very interesting. However, the film’s release was postponed from September 29 to December 22 to cash in on the long Christmas weekend. In a statement, the makers had clarified that the reason for postponement of release is pending shoot and not to evade the clash with Spyder at the box-office.
In the film, Sivakarthikeyan plays a labourer in a factory that produces a food-based product. Apparently, Siva will be seen as a crusader in a fight against food adulteration and in the process gets double-crossed by his best friend, rumoured to be played by Fahadh Faasil. In the film, which marks his Tamil debut, Fahadh is said to be playing the antagonist. In the second poster, we could see mugshot of Sivakarthikeyan and Fahadh whose combination is something to look forward to on the screen. The film also stars Nayanthara, who is teaming up with Siva for the first time and their combination is sure to garner a lot of attention. Velaikkaran also stars Sneha and Prakash Raj in crucial roles.
The first poster of the film was released not long ago. Amid speculations that the poster was a blatant copy of the Michael Douglas starrer Falling Down, the film earned enough attention when its teaser and the first song were released. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film.
