SS Rajamouli’s next is a social drama, it’s different from his film with Mahesh Babu
Months after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, SS Rajamouli’s next has been revealed and it will be a social drama. The cast and the language in which it will be made are not yet known.Updated: Oct 13, 2017 11:57 IST

After the massive success of Baahubali series, all eyes are on what SS Rajamouli will choose to make next. It has now come to light that his next film will be a social drama to be bankrolled by Telugu producer DVV Danayya. Speaking to Variety, the Baahubali director confirmed the news. However, he is yet to decide the cast of the film and the language it will be made in.
“I don’t know which language it is going to be in and who is going to be in the cast, yet,” said Rajamouli. “I have committed to Danayya and that will be my next.”
Producer Danayya is known for his productions like Desamuduru, Julayi, Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu and Naayak.
Prior to this announcement, it had been confirmed that Rajamouli would be joining hands with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, once the latter was done with his latest release, Spyder. Produced by KL Narayana, the Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu film will roll only in 2019 while Rajamouli’s social drama with Danayya will be filmed earlier.
Rajamouli has delivered numerous hits in the Telugu film industry but achieved international acclaim with his Baahubali franchise. Released in 2015, it tells the story of the fight for power between scions of the mythical kingdom, Mahishmati. Playing the leads were Prabhas and Rana Daggubati.
According to Wikipedia, the franchise has made Rs 2,375 crores (Rs 1,725 crore from Baahubali 2 and Rs 650 crore from Baahubali ) globally.
