Ajith and Siva have together in a number of films together like Veeram, Vedalam and Vivegam.

Ajith’s Viswasam first look dropped early on Thursday morning and Twitter has been in an overdrive ever since. There is huge excitement among fans for Ajith’s upcoming film because this is the actor’s fourth collaboration with director Siva after Veeram, Vedalam and Vivegam. Their last outing together did not receive a positive response from critics, and received a mixed reaction from fans. With Viswasam, the actor-director duo is trying to churn out a successful commercial film.

Viswasam first look features Ajith in two different time periods, or it could also be a double role. One of Ajith’s looks sees him sporting his signature salt-and-pepper hair with a white shirt and classy glares, while the other look features Ajith twirling his moustache. In the latter, he has black hair and a flashy red shirt.

The backdrop of each character also tells us that they inhabit completely different spaces. While one looks like a city slicker and poses with high rises jutting out behind him, the other Ajith is from a village and his backdrop is that of a ‘thiruvizha’ -- a gathering that brings the people of a village together. These different backgrounds could also mean that Ajith’s roots are in a village, but the man moves to a city and makes his mark there. So far, the plot of Viswasam has been kept underwraps.

Viswasam first look also revealed that this Ajith starrer will be making its way to the screens on Pongal 2019. Initially, the film was supposed to release for Diwali along with Vijay’s Sarkar and Suriya’s NGK, but the makers seem unable to meet the deadline because of delayed shoots.

The film, which was expected to start rolling in May, was delayed due to the 48-day long strike in the Tamil film industry. Nayanthara, who was supposed to join Viswasam initially, instead began working on her big budget Telugu film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, starring Chiranjeevi.

Viswasam is produced by Sathya Jyothi films, who also bankrolled Ajith and director Siva’s previous project, Vivegam. The music for this film is being composed by D Immam and from the looks of it, Ajith might be playing a role similar to the one in Veeram.
