When Nana inspired Shreyas
Shreyas Talpade feels comedy is the most difficult emotion and it is necessary that comic actors get their due
Actor-director Shreyas Talpade is overwhelmed with the response his comic characters generate from the audience. The Golmaal Again actor says, “I am so happy that people send their abundant love when they like a character. It keeps us motivated to do better and more work.”
A huge Nana Patekar fan, Shreyas was seen imitate the veteran actor in his recently released film. Talking about his experience, he says, “As a child, I would keep imitating him and I have always idolised him. So, we made sure the part looked authentic and genuine. When he saw the rushes, he loved what we had done, and agreed to dub for the scenes.”
The Poster Boys director went on to admit that it is “not an easy task” to “make people laugh”. “As an actor, one may use glycerine to cry. And anger can come pretty easy to anyone, while playing a subtle character is the easiest. However, comedy completely depends on comic timing and you genuinely have to be honest, sincere and serious to make people laugh,” he says. Shreyas considers himself a student of film-making and feels he still has a long way to go. “It is high time comedy is taken seriously. The general response is always that, ‘aah comedy hai, easy hai’. But it is exactly the opposite.”
The actor is currently reading scripts to direct his next Hindi film and a few Marathi scripts to act in.
