Vaibhav Tatwawaadi has an interesting and rather filmi story to share about his next Marathi project. The film titled Grey will be his first Marathi release for 2019 and Vaibhav is excited about it for more than one reason. The first being, it is film-maker Abhishek Jawkar’s debut Marathi directorial.

On meeting Abhishek and bagging the project, the Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017) actor says, “I got to know Abhishek through his wife, actor Prarthana Behere, who is a dear friend. He would often come down to Nashik, while we were shooting for What’s Up Lagna. It would always be a surprise and I was the mediator. Abhishek would coordinate with me and that’s how we got talking.”

Interestingly, the two shared a lot in common and that’s how Grey came about. Sharing details about their association, Vaibhav says, “We bonded a lot over many subjects, mainly films. We often spoke about how we should team up and do something together. We are very like-minded as artistes. Our wavelengths match and most importantly we believe in the same principles. Grey is our first venture as actor-director and we hope to present many more projects together.” Grey is a film from the action-thriller genre.

The Kanha (2016) actor shares that the script really appealed to him. “I genuinely haven’t done something like this till now. We have begun shooting for the same and some portions are left to complete. Interestingly, we shot in Nashik, bringing the association to a full circle.”

Abhishek Jawkar, Prathana Behere and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi

Talking about Abhishek, Vaibhav shares that he is a thorough professional and the fact that they were friends first helped. “Working with like-minded people and friends is always a plus. There is a bond that extends on the sets too. It is like an unspoken connection which just helps put things in place. Most importantly, our creativity and sensibilities match. Thus, making the entire process a cakewalk. I guess we complement each other really well,” he says, adding that most of the time he would know exactly what Abhishek expects out of him in a scene without being told.

To everyone’s surprise, Prarthana will not be a part of the film and Vaibhav confirms the same. He says, “Everyone assumed that she will be acting in it. However, she is not. She was definitely involved in the creative process.”
