We were known by different names then. Shankar, the repeater, Nandu, the cream roll, Karthik, the bhulakkad, Sidhu – the cricketopedia, Madhu – the thinker, Rahul – the doubt master and lastly me, Shree – the gossip monger.

Brought up in Delhi, we played, fought and gossiped all day. We seven would begin our day by waiting for the bus to come in the mornings and then spend the whole day playing cricket.Only when our respective mothers would walk all the way to the playground, did we budge. During vacations, we went home only to sleep. We even charted our career and wedding plans together.

Days gone by
It seems only like yesterday when we were with each other—having a ball. But now, those days have gone.

Some of my friends work for a good company and some are studying further. We don’t meet for days on end but we know for a fact that we will always be there for each other, the seven dudes, who had a rocking childhood.
