Almagro withdraws from Sydney event with injury

Spaniard Nicolas Almagro has pulled out of next week's Sydney International with an injury. World number 13 Almagro has suffered a shoulder injury ahead of the year's opening Australian Open Grand Slam.

Spaniard Nicolas Almagro has pulled out of next week's Sydney International with an injury, organisers said on Wednesday.

World number 13 Almagro has suffered a shoulder injury ahead of the year's opening Australian Open Grand Slam starting in Melbourne on January 13.



"Unfortunately, Nicolas Almagro has been forced to pull out of Sydney with a shoulder injury," tournament director Craig Watson said.



"We wish him a speedy recovery and all the best for a successful Australian Open."
