Breakup mutual, says Sania’s father

Tennis poster girl Sania Mirza is single again. Her father Imran Mirza on Thursday confirmed the breakup of the tennis star’s engagement with her long time friend Sohrab Mirza on grounds of incompatibility.
“It was a mutual decision between Sania and Sohrab and their family and my family. Incompatibility is the issue. Sania has already said that there was incompatibility between the two. They came to us and informed.
The two families have known each other for half-a-century. So, in the best interests of all, we called off the engagement in a cordial manner,” he said.
Imran Mirza said that Sania would continue to play and focus on her career (which has of late taken a beating with her world ranking plummeting).
“It might hurt Sania and Sohrab initially. They have to come out of it and carry on with their lives,” he said. Sania, however, remained incommunicado for the whole day.
Over hundred TV and print journalists, who had gathered in front of her house, sent a chit inside requesting her to come out and talk. But she did not oblige.
Adil Mirza, Sohrab`s father too confirmed the development terming it as “Almighty’s wish”. He said the family agreed to break off the engagement keeping in mind the happiness of the children.
