After an ordinary performance last season, East Bengal are pulling all stops to ensure a reversal of fate this time around. They have spent almost Rs 7.5 crore on the forthcoming season’s squad and they are hoping that Morgan can finally bring the club back on track.

The 54-year old had started his football career under current Tottenham Hotspur coach Harry Redknapp at AFC Bournemouth.

Used to excellent standards of infrastructure at England, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, Morgan said India would provide him with a new perspective to coaching.

“I didn’t choose the club, they chose me. As far as the infrastructure at the club is concerned, as long as we have a good pitch, training pitch and a gym, I’m a happy man,” Morgan, a UEFA ‘A’ coaching licence holder, said.

When asked if he would be able to adapt to the standard of football currently ranked 132nd in the world, he said:”It’s up to me to try and uplift the standards. I will leave the country a happy man if the team improves under me and win some titles.”
