FIFA World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia head coach denies claims of players getting Rolls Royce after historic Argentina win
Saudi Arabia head coach Herve Renard has denied claims of his players getting gifted Rolls Royce cars after their win vs Argentina in the FIFA World Cup.
With Saudi Arabia defeating Argentina in their FIFA World Cup 2022 opener, many reports stated that the entire team were being gifted Rolls Royce by the Arab country's royal family. Now it looks like the reports are fake with Saudi head coach Herve Renard claiming that the news is not true. According to the New York Post, Renard said, "We have a very serious federation and ministry of sport and it is not the time to get something at this moment. We only have played one game, have two very important [group stage] games and we are hoping for some more."
"I don't know if you remember the press conference before Argentina. I said the Argentina game is one of the three important games we have to play. The only good thing at the end of this group stage is to finish No. 1 or No. 2."
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia crashed to a 2-0 defeat vs Poland in their recent World Cup game. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was his side's hero with a spectacular penalty save in the first-half. Also, Robert Lewandowski scored his first World Cup goal in a rcucial 2-0 win. Szczesny's sensational reflex stop from Mohammed Al-Burayk after the he parried Salem Al-Dawsari's spot kick.
After the defeat, Renard also said, “Sometimes you get success, today we failed, so we are failing together. But we have one more game and I hope, a second one and maybe more. It is important to stay concentrated and think about November 30 (the game against Mexico)”.
