Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 2: It was a disappointing day for the Indian contingent on day 2. Apart from PV Sindhu, Manika Batra, and Mary Kom, Pranati Nayak, the swimmers, shooters and the men's hockey team failed to register wins.
Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 2: India's Sathiyan lost against Hong Kong's Lam Siu Hang in his men's singles Round 2 after a thrilling contest. Deepak Kumar, Divyansh Singh Panwar failed to qualify for Men's 10m Air Rifle Final. The pair of Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina were knocked out after losing in the first round of the women's doubles tennis match. PV Sindhu of India won 21-7, 21-10 against her Israel opponent Ksenia Polikarpov in her first match of the Tokyo Olympics. Disappointment for India early in the day as both shooters Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh failed to qualify for the women's 10m air pistol final. The Indian pair of Arvind Singh and Arjun Jat finished in the 3rd position in the Lightweight Men's Double Sculls Rowing Repechage and have qualified for Semifinal A/B. Manik Batra fought back to win her second-round match 4-3, while MC Mary Kom defeated Miguelina Hernandez in the round of 32 to advance to the next round. Pranati Nayak failed to make the finals of the artistic gymnastics event. In the women's 100m backstroke event, India's Maana Patel failed to qualify for the semifinals after finishing 39th. While we're talking women's tennis, there's been a big upset in the singles draw. World No. 1 Australian Ash Barty, the Wimbledon champion, has been knocked out in the first round by Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets. No Barty Party in Tokyo!

Heartbreak for the Indian pair as Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina crash out in the opening round to the Kichenok sisters from Ukraine 6-0, 6-7(0), 8-10.

Kichenok sisters make comeback
Blanked in the first set, the Kichenok sisters come back to blank Mirza-Raina pair in the tiebreaker, taking the second set and fighting back in the contest. The Indians were up a break, and had a chance to serve for the match at 5-3, but will now have to dig in and find a way to turn the momentum.
Defending champ Andy Murray replaced in men's singles draw
Great Britain's two-time defending champion in men's singles, Andy Murray, has been replaced in today's order of play by Max Purcell (AUS) against Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime, third on Centre Court.
He remains in the doubles draw.
In a statement released by Team GB, Murray said:
“I am really disappointed at having to withdraw but the medical staff have advised me against playing in both events, so I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the singles and focus on playing doubles with Joe [Salisbury].”

Sjostrom (SWE) sets 100m free OR as Australia set new 4x100 free relay WR with win
It's Sarah Sjostrom who reaches 100m first for Sweden in a new Olympic record 52.62.
Australia take the lead at 200 and they are pulling away! Well inside world record time. They are three, maybe four body lengths clear as they come home in a new World Record time!
3:29.69, breaking their own world record from the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Olympic Record from Rio 2016!
Canada take silver and USA bronze.
