Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 2: It was a disappointing day for the Indian contingent on day 2. Apart from PV Sindhu, Manika Batra, and Mary Kom, Pranati Nayak, the swimmers, shooters and the men's hockey team failed to register wins.
Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 2: India's Sathiyan lost against Hong Kong's Lam Siu Hang in his men's singles Round 2 after a thrilling contest. Deepak Kumar, Divyansh Singh Panwar failed to qualify for Men's 10m Air Rifle Final. The pair of Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina were knocked out after losing in the first round of the women's doubles tennis match. PV Sindhu of India won 21-7, 21-10 against her Israel opponent Ksenia Polikarpov in her first match of the Tokyo Olympics. Disappointment for India early in the day as both shooters Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh failed to qualify for the women's 10m air pistol final. The Indian pair of Arvind Singh and Arjun Jat finished in the 3rd position in the Lightweight Men's Double Sculls Rowing Repechage and have qualified for Semifinal A/B. Manik Batra fought back to win her second-round match 4-3, while MC Mary Kom defeated Miguelina Hernandez in the round of 32 to advance to the next round. Pranati Nayak failed to make the finals of the artistic gymnastics event. In the women's 100m backstroke event, India's Maana Patel failed to qualify for the semifinals after finishing 39th. Men's skeet update
Angad Vir Singh Bajwa missed two targets out of 75, to be placed 11thon count back in Men’s Skeet and with a top-six finals spot well in sight at the end of day three of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Shooting competition.
Competing at the Asaka Shooting range on Sunday, Angad had scores of 25,24,24 in the first three series and will come back on Monday to shoot the final two series in qualifying.
Compatriot Mairaj Ahmad Khan shot 71 to be in placed 25th out of the 30 shooters in fray.
Men’s Skeet is the only event with Indian interest in Shooting on Monday and the finals are scheduled for 12.20PM IST.

The start of the second round mirrors that of first. Mary happy to defend first before finding Hernandez vulnerable to land her upper cuts and short-arm jabs. Hernandez is happy to attack but she is making way for Mary Kom too often.

That was nervy but she held on
What a win from Manika Batra. She was playing catch-up throughout the 50 minutes. Lost the first two games and then won the next two to draw level.
It was then do-or-die for her in game 6, when was down 2-5 and 2-3. But since then, it was all Manika who scripted a brilliant comeback to advance to the next round.
GAME 7: MANIKA BATRA WINS 4-3
4-1: The bigger the rallies, the better for Manika. She has a slender lead in the decider.
7-3: INCHING CLOSER TO THE WIN! A fast exchange between the two and Magaryta overhits her return.
9-4: Manika nets her forehand drive. Just two points away.
9-5: Margaryta forces Manika wide on the forehand, who in return, can only ram it into the net.

GAME 6: Manika forces decider
Do-or-die now for Manika. It's these two games to three years later.
1-0: She begins the sixth game with a point to her name as Magaryt'as forehand flies wide.
1-1: The two players are now more comfortable in playing longer rallies and this time, Manika concedes the point by overhitting her return.
2-5: The body language hasn't been positive from Manika. She loses a point and looks straight to her coach, who is in the stands. She has taken a time-out now.

9-5: This time, the Ukrainian hits her forehand wide.

4-7: Mania, after early an early lead, makes a few unforced errors to allow the Ukrainian to crawl back into the game.

8-10: Just unable to get going, Manika. She plays a good rally or two before making multiple mistakes. Two game points for her opponent.
8-11: WHAT A RALLY, FIERCE BATTLE OF BACKHANDS BUT THE UKRAINIAN EMERGES TRIUMPHANT. 1 game away from winning the match.
