Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 1: The Indian contingent got off the mark as Mirabai Chanu won the country's first medal in Tokyo. She grabbed silver in the women's 49kg weightlifting event. Shooters failed to win any medal. And finally, the Indian women's hockey team lost 1-5 to the Netherlands.

Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 1: Mirabai Chanu won India's first medal at the Tokyo Olympics, winning a silver medal in 49kg weightlifting with a total lift of 202 kg. Saurabh Chaudhary finished 7th in the 10m air pistol final. The duo of Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav lost to Korea in the mixed team quarter-finals. However, the smiles were back as Manika Batra thumped GBR's Tin-Tin Ho 4-0 in just 30 minutes to advance to the second round.

Linda Bergstroem took a 3-1 lead and looked the more comfortable of the two. She was playing it patiently but was still ineffective with her backhand chops.
Sutirtha brought out her offensive game and played them convincingly to win the next three games and seal a place in the second round.
