Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 1: The Indian contingent got off the mark as Mirabai Chanu won the country's first medal in Tokyo. She grabbed silver in the women's 49kg weightlifting event. Shooters failed to win any medal. And finally, the Indian women's hockey team lost 1-5 to the Netherlands.

Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 1: Mirabai Chanu won India's first medal at the Tokyo Olympics, winning a silver medal in 49kg weightlifting with a total lift of 202 kg. Saurabh Chaudhary finished 7th in the 10m air pistol final. The duo of Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav lost to Korea in the mixed team quarter-finals. Shuttler B Sai Praneeth crashes out in the first round. India paddlers Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal lose to Chinese Taipei in the first round. Harmanpreet Singh's brace gives India a win in their first men's hockey match of Group A. Archery - Republic of Korea vs India - Quarterfinal Results
India's mixed archery team ousted by Korea 6-2 in the quarter-finals. No surprises there, given the might of the Koreans in the sport. What was surprising, though, was that Deepika Kumari didn't hit a single 10 throughout the four sets. Pravin Jadhav blew hot and cold, going between two 10s in the second set to 6 in the final.

Denis Istomin fights back to take the second set 7-6(6) against Sumit Nagal. The Indian was up a break in the second after winning the first set, but will now have to fight it out in the decider.

Mirabai Chanu's lift is a success. A little struggle, but good recovery to lift it clean.

We have our first finalist in Tokyo. And who else but Saurabh Chaudhary. The 19-year-old, cool as ever, tops the 10m Air Pistol qualification round with a score of 586, which included a perfect 100 in the fourth series. Abhishek Verma made a valiant fightback after a slow start and looked set to squeeze into the top 8 too, but two straight 8s in the final series pushed him down to 17th.
Shooting update:
Saurabh Chaudhary's has qualified for the final of the men's 10m air pistol event with a score of 586, marginally missing out on the Qualification Olympic Record (591). He shot a perfect 100 in series 4, 98 in series 5 and a 97 in series 6. He finished top of the list after 6 series.
However, compatriot Abhishek Verma, who was fifth during series 5, eventually finished 17th and failed to qualify for the final. He finished with a score of 575.

On the other hand, Abhishek Verma jumps to the seventh position. He shot 98 in that round.
Remember, the top 8 shooters will qualify for the finals.
