Divyansh wins gold in 10m air rifle; Chenai and Rajeswari top trap events

India won four out of the eight gold medals on offer, besides two silver and five bronze medals, for a total of 11 medals.

Divyansh Singh Panwar won gold in men’s 10m air rifle, while Kynan Chenai and Rajeshwari Kumari topped the podium in men's and women's trap events at the Asian Online Shooting Championship.

India’s 24-member shooting contingent also topped the medals tally winning four gold medals, two silver and five bronze medals.

On the second day of the competition, world number one Divyansh shot an impressive 632.4 to strike gold. It was an Indian clean sweep with Arjun Babuta claiming silver (630.1) and another Tokyo Olympics-bound shooter Deepak Kumar, shooting 628.8 for the bronze medal.

However, in the women’s 10m air rifle event Elavenil Valarivan missed out on a medal. She and Shiori Hirata of Japan were tied at third place with a score of 629, but Elavenil was placed fourth due to lesser inner 10s.

In the men's trap, Kynan Chenai shot down 145 birds out of 150. Prithviraj Tondaiman got the bronze medal with 143.

In the women's trap, Rajeshwari Kumari led an Indian clean sweep with a score of 138. Shreyasi Singh shot down the same number of birds but was placed second on count-back while Manisha Keer came in third with a score of 136 out of 150.

On the first day of competition, Saurabh Chaudhary had won gold in the men’s 10m air pistol, and Manu Bhaker won bronze in women’s 10m air pistol.

The Indian shooters were participating in the online competition from Karni Singh Range.
