Pienaar pulls out, crisis deepens

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury worries deepened on Monday when South African midfielder Steven Pienaar said he was unfit to play in the first leg match.

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury worries deepened on Monday when South African midfielder Steven Pienaar said he was unfit to play in the first leg match.

Pienaar has been struggling with a groin injury for several weeks and he revealed on his Twitter account that the injury had flared up again. “Out for the Madrid game. Groin still not right,” he wrote on Twitter.

Spurs are already without central defenders Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Younes Kaboul.
