Russia's Youzhny withdraws from Paris Masters

Russia's Mikhail Youzhny will miss the ATP finals in London this month after retiring in his second round match at the Paris Masters against Latvian Ernests Gulbis today.

The ninth seed had needed to reach the final in Paris to make the season-ending Tour finals but he retired in the second set at 3-0 down after losing the first set 6-4.

World number 10 Youzhny pulled out at the start of the second round at the Valencia open last week with a back problem.
