Sania in second round of Family Circle Cup
Sania Mirza overcame a sluggish start to beat Alison Riske in the first round of the WTA Family Circle Cup. Sania, who had entered the main draw through the qualifying route, scored a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over the local player to advance to the second round.

Sania Mirza overcame a sluggish start to beat Alison Riske in the first round of the WTA Family Circle Cup. Sania, who had entered the main draw through the qualifying route, scored a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over the local player to advance to the second round.
Sania will next take on another local player, Vania King, who ousted 16th seed Russian Vera Dushevina 6-4, 7-6(7) in her opening round match of the $721,000 hard court event.
In the doubles first round, Sania and Russian partner Elena Vesnina will take on second seeds from the US Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber.
