Somdev loses to Baghdatis, crashes out of Malaysian Open

Somdev Devvraman crashed out of the the $850,00 ATP Malaysian Open after losing to Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in straight sets in the second round of the men's singles event in Kuala Lumpur today.

The 89th ranked Indian gave Baghdatis, world number 60, a good fight before going down 5-7 4-6 in one hour and 46 minutes.

In the opening set, Somdev posed atough challenge, but Baghdatis used all his experience to save as many as seven breakpoints to take a set lead.

However, in the next set the Cypriot hardly spared an inch to the Indian as he broke Somdev once which was enough for him to pocket the match and a place in the last eight round.

Baghdatis will next face Juergen Melzer of Austria in the quarterfinals.
