Micah Parsons arrives one hour late for first press conference as member of Green Bay Packers, reason for delay revealed
Micah Parsons was so caught up in the excitement of Green Bay Packers fans that he turned up one hour late for his own press conference.
Micah Parsons’ trade to the Green Bay Packers just ahead of the start of the NFL season is bound to be one of the more consequential in the recent history of the sport. The linebacker is a rare talent, but a breakdown of relationships at the Dallas Mavericks means that he pushed through a move where he could earn the money he values himself at.
The excitement and buzz regarding the trade has been through the roof, but there was something of a false start for this new relationship. Before his first press conference as a Packer, Parsons was so caught up in fan and social engagements through the day. This meant that when the interview and press conference did roll around, Parsons ended up being one hour late for it.
“Honestly everything happens for a reason. It’s a blessing in disguise. . . . I’m going to work hard every day to prove the Packers organisation made the right decision in trusting in me. I’m going to carry that with me,” said Parsons after joining the team. The linebacker was a terrific player for the Cowboys, but tension between Parsons and owner Jerry Jones led to the Packers sending Kenny Clark and two first round picks to Dallas.

'I'm on the other side of that rich history…'
Parsons didn’t hide from the fact that the Packers being a near-unique, massively historic team had its appeal in terms of landing spots. “I would say I’m pretty lucky, because I understand the rich history of the Packers. The fact that they had interest in me and understanding that they had a pretty tough team already in the NFC…” said Parsons.
“Now, I’m on the other side of adding to this rich history. I’m ready to play with these to suit up and play,” added the pass rusher, who joins a roster which stars excellent players like quarterback Jordan Love
Ultimately, the move also signalled a change of scene from a team expected to be also-rans this season to a team that has suddenly graduated from being a competitive team to a viable contender. “Winning is everything to me,” added Parsons. “I don’t think you’re going to find a more competitive person. . . . So when you talk about winning on this stage and what it takes, I haven’t been there. I don’t know what it takes. But I’ve got a funny feeling that this program does.”
