Magistrates in Bristol, western England, sentenced the 55-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to a nine-month rehabilitation order after he admitted three offences of voyeurism.
The court had been told that the man linked the bathroom camera to a television in his bedroom for "sexual gratification".
The wife unexpectedly discovered what he was up to last October when she turned on the television in their bedroom to be confronted with a live image of her husband naked in the bath.
The man later confessed what he had done, prosecutor Jan Fish said.
"He stated the reason for doing this was for watching his wife in the bath and he had planned to watch them together in the bath for their sexual gratification," she told the court.
The man had now been thrown out of his house by the wife, who was filing for divorce, defence lawyer Debbie Bakehouse said in mitigation.
"He now understands that he should have got his wife's consent before any of this took place," she added.
