For the past seven years, I have tracked consumer tech through constant shifts in hardware, platforms, and the way people actually use devices. Covering everything from budget gear to flagship hardware, I focus on what readers need to know, not on buzzwords or launch cycle hype. My expertise spans gaming laptops and chairs, high-performance PCs, gaming monitors, printers, smartwatches, earphones, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, tablets, and more, with a particular emphasis on how these products hold up in daily use. Reviews, explainers, buying guides, and news pieces all share the same goal: giving readers enough detail to make confident decisions without wading through fluff. Away from deadlines, I spend a lot of time gaming and watching films and anime, which naturally filters back into the work. Performance, comfort, display quality, and sound are judged the way players and viewers experience them, not just by lab numbers, which keeps my coverage grounded in real scenarios rather than just benchmarks.

Google has launched the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the latest Pixel 11 series, bringing a stronger focus on health, fitness and AI-powered assistance. The new smartwatch adds features such as blood pressure and insulin resistance trend tracking, improved workout tools and deeper Gemini integration. Alongside the watch, Google has also introduced a new Olive colour for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, although the earbuds remain unchanged in terms of hardware and features.

What’s new in Pixel Watch 5

Google Pixel Watch 5 focuses on health, fitness and smarter everyday assistance, with several new features built around Google Health and Gemini. The biggest additions include:

  • Blood Pressure Trends: The watch can passively track blood pressure patterns over a month and surface sustained changes as a monthly insight. The feature is expected in September 2026 and is designed for general wellness, not clinical blood pressure measurement.
  • Insulin Resistance Trends: Pixel Watch 5 can estimate monthly changes in insulin resistance using signals including heart rate, sleep and activity, without requiring a blood sample. This feature is also coming this fall.
  • Sleep Breathing Quality: The watch analyses variations in blood oxygen during sleep to provide more context around breathing patterns, recovery and heart health.
  • Bigger fitness upgrade: Users can create personalised strength and HIIT workouts with specific reps, weights and intervals, while the watch provides audio and visual guidance during exercises. It supports more than 50 tracked exercises.
  • Gemini integration: Users can raise their wrist to interact with Gemini, manage tasks and get contextual information. Google Health Coach also brings personalised fitness and recovery guidance through Gemini.
  • Safety features: Pixel Watch 5 supports satellite SOS communication, Safety Check, Emergency Sharing, Fall Detection and Car Crash Detection, depending on market and connectivity.

The watch also retains features such as ECG, AFib detection, SpO2 tracking, heart rate monitoring, skin temperature sensing and loss of pulse detection.

Google Pixel Watch 5 display and battery

Pixel Watch 5 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes. Both models feature an Actua 360 AMOLED LTPO display with 320ppi resolution, up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, a 1–60Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The 41mm model has a 332mAh battery rated for up to 30 hours with the always-on display, while the 45mm model has a 465mAh battery and lasts up to 40 hours. Both support fast charging through Google's Quick Charge Dock.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 gets an Olive colour

Alongside the Pixel Watch 5, Google has introduced a new Olive colour option for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. There are no hardware changes with this launch. The Olive version is the same Pixel Buds Pro 2 model already available, with the new finish designed to match the colour palette of the latest Pixel devices.

Price and availability

The Google Pixel Watch 5 is priced at 42,900 for the 41mm model, while the 45mm variant costs 45,990.

Pre-orders for the Pixel Watch 5 have now begun. The watch works with most phones running Android 12 or newer and comes with 64GB of storage, Wear OS 7 and the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated chipset.
