The Indo-Czech pair, with the 6-1, 6-4 win, will now face top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in the second round of the event.
Paes and Damm were impressive in the first set which they pocketed conceding just one game and though Calleri and Robredo tried to throw a spanner in the second set, Paes and Damm proved better in the end as they clinched the set and the match to set a clash against the Bryan brothers.
The top seeds, however, were made to toil in the middle by the Australian wild card pair of Chris Guccione and Nathan Healey before the Bryan siblings emerged victorious 6-2, 4-6, 12-10.
