BMC to overhaul citizen services, 9-member committee formed

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai plans to overhaul its citizen services and license processes to improve ease of doing business. The BMC aims to make all ward level permissions/licenses available online, similar to passport applications and ITR filing. A nine-member committee has been formed to gather suggestions from citizens, and the new process is expected to be operational within three months. The BMC also plans to introduce comprehensive document submission and transparency in the application process.

While addressing the media after a meeting of its members from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, Sinha said that the industry is positive about the growth rate and there are a lot of opportunities, especially in new sectors like electric vehicles, data centres, electronic manufacturing, pharma inputs and aircraft manufacturing.

“The Indian economy, to a large extent, is insulated from what is happening in Europe and other places. It has its growth trajectory that will continue,” said Sinha. He added that economic growth is now more balanced as growth has moved beyond capital cities into tier-2 and tier-3 cities in Western Region states. (PTI)

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has claimed that every district in the state is now safe and has its own identity, while announcing that the state has become an attractive destination for setting up enterprises. Speaking at a programme to sign a memorandum of understanding for setting up textile parks, Adityanath said the government was capable of safeguarding investors' interests and capital. He also criticised previous governments for poor law and order, and said no riots have been reported in the state since 2017. The PM Mitra scheme aims to establish UP as a textile hub.

Maadhyam portal to help doing business easier

The ‘ease of doing business’ initiative, named as ‘Maadhyam’, is currently under trial and will be launched by the end of this month or the next, a commerce and industry ministry official said, asking not to be named.

Finance ministry allows Rajasthan to borrow Rs 2,731 cr more post ease of doing business reform

Rajasthan has now joined the five other states namely, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, which have completed the reform facilitating ease of doing business to be eligible for additional borrowing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday set an ambitious target of India breaking into top 50 nations on the World Bank’s ease of doing business ranking and said efforts are on to nearly double the size of country’s economy to USD 5 trillion.

Narendra Modi said the era of policy paralysis has ended and his government is giving policy-based governance that has helped catapult India from 142nd among 190 nations on the ease of doing business index in 2014 to 77th this year.
