Haryana: BEO official arrested for seeking sexual favours from woman for daughter’s school admission

In her complaint to the police, the woman said the accused who was posted on deputation at the Sonepat block education office, had initially demanded ₹30,000 for her daughter’s admission in a reputed school. The woman recorded the entire conversation and handed it over to the Sonepat police.

Jalandhar LS bypoll: SAD lodges complaint against AAP with EC

Delhi HC: Pvt schools must admit students on transparent, fair criteria

The court said that even though a school has autonomy in matters of admission under the general quota and can devise its own criteria for admission, the criteria have to be “reasonable, rational, and non-discriminatory.”

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have been directed to ensure "zero tolerance" for discrimination and provide robust support systems, following a spate of student suicides. The IIT council, led by the country's education minister, met for the first time in two years to discuss the issue. The council also examined ways to help students overcome language barriers and discussed possible reasons behind students dropping out.

Jalalabad: Tree falls on vehicle, 12 govt teachers hurt

The police said the teachers from Jalalabad in Fazilka district, posted in government schools of Tarn Taran, were travelling in a 10-seater multi-utility vehicle. When they reached near Khaji Peer village, about 1km from Jalalabad on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road at 7am, amid rain, a tree fell on the vehicle.
