Nipah virus in Kerala: 17 more samples test negative, hunt on to find source

Nipah outbreak: Karnataka to keep close eye on arrivals from Kerala

  • On September 7, the Karnataka government had directed administrations of districts bordering Kerala to strengthen surveillance and preparedness after the first confirmed case of Nipah virus was reported in the state.

68 primary contacts free of Nipah as 7 more samples turn negative in Kerala

“7 more samples of people in isolation (for possible cases of Nipah virus) at Kozhikode Medical College turned negative today. A total of 68 samples tested negative," Veena George said.

Karnataka CM to review Nipah virus impact today, ‘necessary action' to follow

“Regarding Nipah virus, I have given directions to the Health Secretary and experts. I will get a report on its behaviour in Kerala and its impact on us by this evening, following which necessary action will be taken,” CM Basavaraj Bommai said.

68 under isolation for Nipah virus; all are stable: Kerala health minister

Kerala health minister Veena George said that of the total number of samples collected during the contact-tracing process of the Nipah virus victim in the state, 30 people have tested negative so far. 
According to the latest ANI report, as many as 251 people were listed during contact-tracing, of which, 129 were health workers and 54 in the high-risk groups. (PTI Photo)
