Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposes taxpayer charter in Budget speech, says wealth creators will be respected

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government won’t let taxpayers be harassed at the hands of officials. “We wish to enshrine in the statutes a taxpayer charter through this Budget. Our government remains committed to taking measures to ensure that our taxpayers are free from tax harassment of any kind,” Sitharaman said in her budget speech.

RBI’s 1.76 lakh crore bounty to government likely to widen stimulus scope

While announcing the first stimulus package to revive growth on Friday, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that it was “only the start” and one more set of announcements, focused on the sluggish real estate sector, would be announced this week.

Companies with sales of up to 400 crore to be taxed at 25%

At present, the 25% concessional tax rate is available only to companies with sales of up to ₹250 crore a year and to new manufacturing companies that do not avail tax incentives.

Companies with sales of up to <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>400 crore will be now taxed at a concessional rate of 25%, down from 30%, the rate applicable for all others, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in her union budget speech for FY20.(PTI)
