Starbucks sells ‘Ajji approved filter coffee’ for 290, netizens react

Jan 23, 2023 07:45 PM IST

Starbucks has come under the radar of netizens for its exorbitantly-priced ‘Ajji approved filter coffee’.

Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee chain, revamped its menu last year and added items such as masala chai and filter coffee to woo more Indian customers. Now, a Twitter post featuring the company’s advertisement for its grandmother-approved filter coffee for 290, excluding taxes, has attracted several eyeballs. While many noted that their grandmothers wouldn’t approve of an exorbitantly-priced filter coffee, others shared that they would surely approve 290 monthly subscription for coffee from Starbucks.

“Dear Starbucks, there’s literally no ajji in god’s green earth who’ll approve a filter coffee for 290rs +taxes,” read the caption written along with a picture shared by Twitter user Adithya Venkatesan. The picture features a promotional Starbucks standee having a picture of a young man sharing piping hot coffee with his ajji (grandmother). The text on the standee reads, “Ajji approved filter coffee for Shivu. Starting at 290*. Starbucks.” It also accompanies the hashtag #ItStartsWithYourName.
