It is a curious case of art imitating life (or maybe the other way round).

We're told that Penny of hit TV series Big Bang Theory, and Kaley Cuoco, who plays the character, are both going in for a radical role makeover in the eighth season starting in September. News has come in that while Penny, who's forever been dreaming of becoming an actor, is giving it all up to become a pharmaceutical representative, Kaley's in line for a massive pay raise from the producers.

Seems like the producers had planned Penny's career graph well in advance, considering that the last season ended with Leonard proposing to her. With her becoming a medical representative now, we assume the couple to grapple with bigger money-related issues in the new season.

"She's going to start making some money, which will unbalance their relationship as the power shifts and she's going to find some confidence and self-esteem, which acting does not provide in great heaping doses," The Huffington Post has quoted the show's creator Chuck Lorre.
