What’s Raghu Ram, the man behind the popular reality show MTV Roadies, doing on the rival Channel [V]? That’s the question on everyone’s mind ever since the promos of The Player started airing on the latter.

The answer, though, is that the man you see is not Raghu, but his identical twin Rajeev Laxman. Not only is Rajeev hosting the show, he has produced it, too. “Channel [V] has outsourced the show to my production house, Colosseum Media, which produced shows such as Splitsvilla.” Although Rajeev maintains that Raghu is not an official partner, he adds, “He has been there in and out, to support me.”

Raghu, on his part, confirms a split with MTV. “I left MTV in May 2009 and since then I have been travelling. I left because I wanted a break.” Although he’s always been seen as the face of MTV Roadies, Raghu says, “Roadies is not Raghu, it is a journey. Because I have been the face of the crew, people relate it to me. It was time for me to move on.”
