Within weeks of signing on the dotted line for judging India’s Got Talent Season Three, the ’70s He-Man, Dharmendra shot three promos for the Colors’ show with co-judges Kirron Kher and Sonali Bendre.
This will be the third season in a row for both female actors, but it’s the superstar’s first TV outing. Is he ready? “Yes, I am,” he says with a bright smile. “The only thing I can’t do is be a khadoos judge. I can’t be rude to anyone who comes on stage and performs with the hope that he will make it big.”
Before Dharmendra, filmmakers Shekhar Kapoor and Sajid Khan have been judges on the show. The actor-producer says he’s watched some episodes from both seasons to acquaint himself with the concept. “Thankfully, this show has everything from action to dance, and painting to even tying ‘phetas’(turbans). If it was only about dancing, I would have asked the channel to approach Hemaji instead,” he chuckles.
Considering that his film, Tell Me O Khuda, produced by wife Hema Malini, and featuring his daughter Esha, is gearing up for release, will they appear on the show as part of promotions? “You never know,” he exclaims. “The day they shoot for my show, I’m sure I’ll be asked to dance with Hemaji. I guess I need to brush up on my skills for that.”
