The stage is set, and the fighters are ready to battle it out! Well, we aren’t talking about any wrestling match, but a contest that will see 50 chefs take viewers on an exciting journey through Tasmania, catering to a Sri Lankan wedding for 450 people, running the kitchen in one of Australia’s top hotels, and finally toss up some amazing dishes. All this will be to win the coveted Top 24 apron in MasterChef Australia.

In the fourth season, which kicks off in Melbourne today, judges Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan, promise a lot of surprises, especially for Indian viewers. “Watch out for some great food and some India-inspired flavours,” says Preston.

In fact, one of the top contestants on the show this time is Dalvinder Dhami of Indian origin, who claims that her strength lies in Indian cuisine, with lamb curry as her signature dish. Sounds appetising, doesn’t it? Well, there will be more on the show to give you an adrenaline rush. “This season, we are taking the challenges back to the basics. We want the contestants to be able to walk because we make them run!” jokes Preston.

Ask chef George Calombaris about the most exciting thing about the show, and he says, “Real people, real challenges and real cooking.” MasterChef Australia starts today, and will be aired every Monday to Friday at 9pm on Star World.
