Maybe he was fine-tuning his vocals before he got into action. Sukhiji doesn’t seem to believe in compelling the audience to groove to his music.

Instead he’s confident that they will get mesmerised by his act. So on Oye.., he refused to pull the host and the guest to the stage during his performance. He thought if they enjoyed the songs, they would dance anyway. Gayak saheb didn’t care two hoots.
