Yesteryear actor Jeetendra has defended the intimate scene in the television soap, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, produced by his daughter Ekta Kapoor. The bedroom scenes in the show created controversy and were termed too bold for the small screen by many.

“The sequence picturised on actors Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar was not vulgar. I really liked the romance. People might have considered it too much but I found it subtle. If a husband and a wife meet after six months, it is bound to happen. But whatever happened was subtle. There was nothing vulgar in it. I found it alright,” the 69-year-old said at the Global Indian Film Television Honours.

The episode was telecast on March 12 and set tongues wagging about the sudden display of intimacy on Indian TV.

Ekta’s actor-brother Tusshar also spoke in Ekta’s defence: “It’s important to break certain norms, only then will people appreciate decency,” he said.
