Salman spotted the Makkhi (2012) actor at the recent Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), and felt he would be the perfect host for a regional version of Bigg Boss, the reality show that he hosts.

A source reveals, “Bigg Boss’s Kannada version will air in March, and Salman recommended Sudeep as host. They met and hit it off during the CCL. In fact, Salman was so impressed by him that he selected him to head the south team.”

Deepak Dhar of Endemol India, which sold the rights of the show to ETV Kannada, says, “After Kannada, we are looking at Malayalam, Tamil and Telegu versions of Bigg Boss as these are big and important markets.” Ask him if Salman recommended Sudeep and Deepak replies, “I can’t speculate on that, but Salman is an integral part of Bigg Boss and he gives us a lot of inputs. Sudeep has a huge mass appeal and will take the franchise forward in that market.” The Kannada version will be shot in Lonavala, on the sets of the Hindi version of the show.
