Season 6 of KBC to air only on weekends
After five seasons on week-day primetime, season six of Kuan Banega Crorepati will be aired from Friday to Sunday. It was assumed that some shows from the daily primetime slot on Sony Entertainment Television would be shuffled to make way for KBC.tv Updated: Aug 11, 2012 18:00 IST
Season six of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) is barely a month away.
It was assumed that a bunch of shows from the daily primetime slot on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) would be eliminated or shuffled to make way for 60-90 minute episodes. However, an insider from SET says, “The show will now be aired on weekends (from September 7) instead of weekdays.”
“It will occupy the primetime space, which is currently taken by singing reality show, Indian Idol 6,” the source adds. There were rumours that the channel had planned to axe the 18-month-old soap, Saas Bina Sasuraal, to make space in the weekday primetime slot.
But it seems like SET wasn’t too keen on reshuffling the weekday lineup. KBC goes on the floors around August 15 at Film City, Goregaon.
Amitabh Bachchan’s show will face competition from dance contest, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 (on Colors), which is nearing its finale, and Dance Ke Superkids (on Zee TV).
There are also fiction shows like Arjun and Teri Meri Love Stories on Star Plus that will be jostling for eyeballs. Danish Khan, senior VP and head of marketing, SET, did not wish to comment on the subject.
