Saarthi's 'Bhumi' aka Zalak Thakker chats up with Gautam Hegde on her new venture Chaand ke Paar Chalo.

Where have you been?
I was busy losing all the weight I’d put on to look like a convincing mum in Saarthi.

And how did you do that?
I worked out and lot.. and did a movie down South too.

But don’t they prefer plump heroines down south?
(Laughs) That’s changing these days. Apart from the film, there was my gym, squash and dance.

You dance? Ever thought of dance reality shows?
I used to dance but then I moved on to anchoring and then acting. I’ve always wanted to do newer things. One day, I want to do films in all languages. To date, I’ve done two films in Telugu, one in Rajasthani and one in Bhojpuri.

So, what’s Chaand ke Paar Chalo about? Astronauts?
Noooo! It’s a love story set in Lucknow. I play a bubbly girl.

Thinner girl you mean?
(Giggles) Yes, but I don’t believe in being ridiculously thin. A girl should look khate peete ghar ki.

The show is largely in Urdu.. is that a problem?
During Saarthi, I had a bit of a problem with my diction because I’m a Gujarati. Now I have to learn Urdu. The words are tough. The Gha in Ghaalib is different from the Gha otherwise. We always laugh about it.

Have you dreamt of going beyond the moon?
No, but I’d like to go to the moon. Alone!

Then how will you start a family there?
See, I don’t have any Prince Charming. I never think of him. If he has to come he’ll come.

Not even any hero you like?
(Blushes) Okay okay.. Shahid Kapoor.

Have people sung Zalak Dikhlaja to you?
Yes, that would annoy me. I’d be asked if I know Himesh (Reshammiya) knows me. Just because we are both Gujjus doesn’t mean that he knows me and has written the song for me!
